The artist has created her own ‘visual code’ by exploring repeated geometric shapes and negative forms. Here, she builds up the paint in layers of grey tones so the white shapes appear to float away from or retreat into the wall. The surface changes in the light play from the window opposite, and as you move up and down the stairs.
